The Cuisine
The restaurant’s menu revolves around traditional Italian seafood dishes prepared from a selection of the finest ingredients from reliable local producers. Most of the ingredients come from the Lazio coastal towns of Fiumicino, Anzio and Terracina, while some other products, like the Imperial Red Prawns, come from Sicily. This sunny and welcoming dining space provides for a classic interpretation of the top local seafood, from the shellfish served as a soup, or baked, crusted, stewed or grilled.
The restaurant’s cuisine pays homage to Italy’s best known recipes with a personal touch that makes for tempting and colourful dishes. Those who are not fond of seafood can enjoy traditional Roman pasta dishes and various meat options, from the unmistakable Amatriciana, Carbonara and Cacio e pepe to Sliced Beef Steaks and the Cube Rolls. Great attention is also paid to diners who prefer a gluten-free and/or vegetarian solution. The kitchen brigade consists of ‘The Pharaoh of the Lido’, alias chef Karim El Ghandor, born in Alexandria but brought up in Ostia, and his two local teammates: Simone Mustazzolu (known as ‘Picasso’ for his artistic touch and the eccentric and colourful outfit he wears while cooking, flat cap included) and Danilo Rosu, called the ‘Professor’ for his charismatic, thorough and enigmatic personality and his intellectual look.
